The Indian Under-19 boys team won the silver medal, while the U15 girls team, which also featured Divyanshi, bagged bronze.

Indian paddlers finished their World Youth Table Tennis Championships 2025 campaign with three medals after Divyanshi Bhowmick secured a bronze in the Under-15 girls’ singles event in Romania on Sunday.

Competing at the BT Arena in Cluj Napoca, Divyanshi Bhowmick won the opening game but eventually lost 4-1 (10-12, 12-10, 11-6, 11-4, 11-8) to the People’s Republic of China’s Zhu Qihui in the semi-finals.

Bhowmick, who became the first Indian in 36 years to win the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships U15 girls singles title earlier this year, carried her momentum into the World Championships.

The 15-year-old Indian table tennis player began her campaign in Romania with a 4-0 (11-6, 13-11, 11-7, 11-5) win over Algeria’s Jade Morice in the opening round.

She beat the Republic of Korea’s Kim Minseo 4-2 (6-11, 11-5, 12-10, 5-11, 11-7, 11-6) in the pre-quarters before entering the medal round with a 4-2 (11-9, 13-11, 10-12, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7) win against Japan’s Kokomi Ishida in the quarters.

Suhana Saini, a bronze winner from 2021, is the only other Indian to win a medal in the U15 girls' singles category at the World Youth Table Tennis Championships.
