A total of 79 players - 48 Indians and 31 overseas - remained unsold at the 2026 Indian Premier League mini-auction.
The IPL 2026 auction, leading up to the upcoming Indian Premier League season, concluded on Tuesday with the 10 franchises shelling out a grand total of ₹215.45 crores on 77 players, including 29 overseas recruits.
Cameron Green was the headline buy of the auction with Kolkata Knight Riders acquiring the Australian all-rounder for ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive foreign player in IPL history.
Meanwhile, the list of unsold players at the IPL 2026 auction also featured some notable international stars, including the likes of hard-hitting Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, English wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow and New Zealand stars Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway.
Alzarri Joseph, Gus Atkinson, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Spencer Johnson were some of the other high-profile international players who feature in the list of unsold players in IPL 2026.
Despite the high demand for domestic players, usual to mini-auctions, a lot of established Indian players also went unsold at the IPL 2026 auction.
The list includes Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, KS Bharat, Karn Sharma, Murugan Ashwin and Chetan Sakariya, all of whom have played internationally for the Indian men’s cricket team.
Overall, a total of 79 players went unsold at the IPL 2026 auction, with 48 Indians and 31 foreign players failing to land a team.
A total of 369 players were initially shortlisted for the IPL 2026 mini-auction, but 213 of them, including former Australian captain Steve Smith and ex-India international Mayank Agarwal, were skipped entirely as 156 players went under the hammer in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Nineteen players, including high-profile Indian batters Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who had initially gone unsold, were later picked up during subsequent accelerated bidding rounds.
A few high-profile players like Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis had earlier opted to skip IPL 2026.
