Taiwanese bodybuilder Liu Ming-i won two gold medals on Sunday at the 2025 IFBB World Bodybuilding Championships in Saudi Arabia, taking first place in the men’s fitness model (176 cm) and men’s physique (170 cm) categories.
President Lai Ching-te congratulated Liu after the results were announced, praising his performance and encouraging the rest of the Taiwan delegation to keep striving for top honors.
Liu said he began bodybuilding relatively late, starting training at age 27 and continuing through 37. Because he started later than most competitors, he said he rarely allows himself to rest and trains nearly every day.
His dedication has produced steady results. Earlier this year, Liu won gold at the IFBB Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships in June, earning recognition for his conditioning and form.
At the higher-level World Championships, Liu once again impressed judges with his balanced physique, defined muscle tone, and confident stage presence. His performance earned him the gold in men’s fitness model, followed by a second gold in men’s physique. In the latter event, he received unanimous praise among a field of 16 competitors from 12 countries.
Taiwan’s delegation to the World Championships was led by team leader Ma Yong-han and included four male athletes: Liu, Wang Yen-ting , Zheng Yuan-cheng , and Hsu Ting-fu .
The Ministry of Sports said the athletes’ long-term commitment to intensive training and strict diet control reflects their high standards and contributed to the strong evaluations they received from international judges. The ministry added that their achievements bring honor to Taiwan and inspire other domestic athletes to pursue excellence.
