Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth moved into the men’s singles final at the Syed Modi International 2025 badminton tournament after beating compatriot Mithun Manjunath in the semis at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday.

The first game saw Kidambi Srikanth race to an 8-2 lead before closing out the opener without much trouble.

Fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth made a brisk start in the second game, moving into a 3-0 lead before Mithun Manjunath clawed his way back to seize an 11-9 advantage at the interval.

Srikanth then managed to tie the contest at 18-all, but Mithun Manjunath held his nerve to win the second game and force a decider.

In the final game of the match, Kidambi Srikanth took control of proceedings from the outset, leading from start to finish en route to victory and a spot in the final.

Kidambi Srikanth will face world No. 59 Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong China in the final. Srikanth has beaten Jason Gunawan in both their previous meetings so far.

Top seeds Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand of India also entered the women’s doubles after a comfortable 21-11, 21-15 win over fifth-seeded Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting of Malaysia.
