India's Minerva Academy Dismantles Liverpool, Seals Historic 6-0 Victory

In a result that sent shockwaves through the youth football ecosystem across the world, Punjab's Minerva Academy FC delivered a masterclass in Spain to dismantle Liverpool FC 6-0 during the Round of 16 at the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC) 2026. The victory on marks a historic high for Indian football, as the debutants from Mohali ran riot against one of the most talked-about academies in world football.

The match was defined by Minerva's relentless energy and a high-pressing system that Liverpool simply could not cope up against. Raj Singh emerged as the hero of the day, netting a superb hat-trick that capitalised on every defensive lapse from the English side. Mohammad Azam Khan added a brace with clinical precision, and Lisham Amarson Singh capped off the dominant with with a solitary strike, sealing a thumping 6-0 victory for his side.

The Mediterranean International Cup is one of the world's most prestigious youth football tournaments, held annually during Easter week across the Costa Brava region of Spain. Since its inception, the competition has served as a global stage for the finest young talents to showcase their skills, frequently featuring the youth academies of elite clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

It is widely regarded as a "mini World Cup" for age groups ranging from U12 to U19.
