India were defeated 1-0 by Belgium in the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, played on Sunday in Malaysia. The only goal of the match was scored by Thibault Stockbroekx in the 34th minute. India got three penalty corners but the team could not convert them and had to settle for a silver medal.

India's strong defence in the first half

The final match between India and Belgium was fast-paced and tough. From the start, Belgium gained more ball possession and launched continuous attacks from both flanks. Despite this, the Indian goalkeeper made excellent saves on several occasions.

Belgium got two penalty corners in the opening minutes, but the Indian defence thwarted both opportunities. No team could score until half-time and the score remained 0-0.

Belgium's dominance in the second half

In the second half, Belgium found a better rhythm and started increasing pressure in the Indian circle. India made some good moves, but could not breach Belgium's defense line even in the third quarter.

During this, in the 34th minute, Stockbroekx scored a goal, giving Belgium the lead. In the final quarter, India made several attempts to equalize, but Belgium's defense remained very strong and Indian attacks continued to fail.

India's second defeat in the tournament This was India's second defeat in this tournament. In the league stage too, Belgium had defeated India 3-2. Meanwhile, on November 29, India had secured a spot in the final by defeating Canada 14-3.

During this tournament, Jugraj Singh, Amit Rohidas, and Sanjay had performed well in penalty corners, but they could not deceive Belgium's solid defense in the final.
